William F. ‘Buffalo Bill’ Cody Orginal European Color Poster

Original color poster for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West, 28.5 x 39, depicting Cody proudly sitting atop his trusty steed Isham, with the US and French flags behind him. Artwork was originally done by English painter and sculptor Adrian Jones, and bears his printed signature and a 1903 date at the bottom. Poster also bears a manufacturer’s mark for the Parisian printer Weiner. in the lower right, and a partial Buffalo Bill Cody oval stamp to the upper right. Poster has been professionally linen-backed and professionally restored in some areas, including the entire lower border, and several other small border areas. Framed to an overall size of 31.5 x 42. In very good condition, with aforementioned areas of restoration, light intersecting folds, and some dampstaining along top edge. The Plexiglas has a couple of scattered scratches. Cody’s European tours established him as an international celebrity, performing for sold-out crowds and members of royalty, including King Edward VII. Giuseppe Verdi Signed Imperial Cabinet Photo

Italian composer (1813–1901) who was one of the most influential figures in the history of opera. Superb 6.75 x 9.75 imperial cabinet photo of Verdi wearing a classic hat in a fine head-and-shoulders pose, signed in black ink, “G. Verdi, Montecatini, 1 Agosto 1898.” Published by P. Tempestini of Montecatini. In very good condition, with overall surface spotting and a ding to the top of the mount. Verdi frequented Montecatini throughout the last twenty years of his life, an area of Italy known for its spa and a destination for many of his contemporaries, such as Mascagni and Leoncavallo. At this point, he had finished writing his last work, Quattro pezzi sacri, which had been performed in Paris for the first time in April. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.

Marilyn Monroe Signed Business Check November 4, 1960

Marilyn Monroe Productions, Inc., business check, 8.5 x 3, filled out in type and signed by Monroe, payable to Hedda Rosten for $65.85, November 4, 1960. In fine condition, with expected bank stamps and cancellation holes (one stamp affecting her first name). Writers Norman and Hedda Rosten were Monroe’s friends and neighbors, and Hedda served as her maid of honor for her wedding to Arthur Miller. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.

Titanic O. B. R. Kentucky Whiskey Bottle

Vintage 1970 Titanic ceramic whiskey decanter, designed by Paul Lux for O. B. R. Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Nicely designed and painted decanter measures 16″ long, with an O. B. R. label at the stern and a label on the bow which reads, “Exclusively Colonial China.” Bottom is imprinted, “Liquor bottle 185, RMS Titanic, Created by Paul Lux 1970.” The empty decanter is complete with its cork as well as its original box. Charles Stengel Marconigram Titanic Survivor

Original and uncommon double-sided Marconigram sent by Stengel from the Carpathia, signed, “C. E. Henry Stengel,” in pencil, one page, both sides, 8.75 x 5.75, on Marconi International Marine Communication Company telegram paper, stamp-dated April 17, 1912. Addressed to “Stengchild, Newark, N. J.,” message reads, “Both on Carpathia.” This Marconigram is documented in the book Titanic: Signals of Disaster (#5 on page 96) stating the message was sent to Ivan Stengel, via “MSD,” by “H. C.,” Howard Thomas Cottam. In very good condition, with uniform toning, some slight paper loss and mounting remnants to reverse, a couple of arithmetic equations in ink, and a few small areas of dampstaining. After seeing his wife safely into Lifeboat 1, Stengel made his way to Lifeboat 5, along with fellow survivor Sir Cosmo Duff Gordon, whom he later defended against accusations made that Gordon bribed sailors to ignore people in the water. The ship’s name appears on a sign fixed to the gantry at the base of her bow. Some light toning and foxing to borders, light remnant of photographer’s stamp to lower left, and slight surface loss to label on reverse, otherwise fine condition. Cosmonauts Flown Beaulieu Camera

Extensively flown Beaulieu movie camera flown to the Salyut 6 space station on board Soyuz 26 in 1977 and returned to earth three years later on board Soyuz T-3. This 16 mm camera is fitted with a semi-automatic P. Angenieux (Paris) 120 mm zoom lens that is designed for outdoor use only. During the period this was on board the space station it was available for use (during EVAs only) by a total of 29 cosmonauts who served aboard Salyut 6, including Yuri Romanenko, Georgi Grechko, Vladimir Dzhanibekov, Oleg Makarov, Aleksei Gubarev, Valery Bykovsky, Leonid Kizim, and Gennady Strekalov. Camera is accompanied by a counterbalance and battery which screws into the bottom. Also accompanied by a typed letter of authenticity from Valery Bykovsky, listing the 29 cosmonauts who had access to the camera while it was in space. In fine and apparent working condition. A total of three space walks were conducted on Salyut 6 from 1977–1979, although it is unknown if this camera was used during any of the EVAs. Provenance: Ex-Valery Bykovsky; Superior Auction. Letter to an unidentified recipient in the Queen’s difficult to decipher hand. In part: “I wrote to you…but fear you never got it unless it was forwarded…to christen thy little…granddaughter who was born here on the 24th…(a good deal later than was expected).” In fine condition. MIR EO-9 Glove Anatoli Artsebarski

Cosmonaut Anatoli Artsebarski’s flown Soyuz TM-12/Mir EO-9 extra vehicular activity glove. Left-handed glove is numbered and lettered in Russian and is complete with the locking coupling. Glove consists of an outer thermal-insulated nylon canvas, pebbled rubber palm and finger pads, rounded blue rubber fingertips, two Velcro flaps above the knuckles, and a mirror strapped around the wrist. Inner Velcro flap is signed by Artsebarski and dated October 10, 1991, the day that the Soyuz TM-12 mission returned to Earth. Includes a signed letter of provenance from Artsebarski dated February 9, 1994, in full: “This glove was only used in the vacuum of space. I used this very glove for 3 Extra Vehicular Activities during my 5 month stay aboard the Russian Space Station MIR in 1991. My activities in vacuum wearing this glove included construction of special structures on the exterior of Space Station MIR.” In fine condition, with expected wear from use. Immanuel Kant Ink Signature

Ink signature, “Ihr gantz ergebener Freund und Diener, I. Kant,” on an off-white 7.25 x 1.25 slip clipped from the close of a letter. Ink notation to left side reads, “Konigsberg, 1795.” In fine condition, two vertical folds (one touching the first letter of his signature; slight separations professionally repaired on the reverse). Originates from the collection of the German theologist Hermann Dembowski. Of the utmost rarity, this is the first Kant autographic material we have ever offered. Limited edition solid Jim Reno bronze of Secretariat

Limited edition and beautifully detailed bronze of Secretariat by renowned sculptor Jim Reno, 5/100, previously owned by Secretariat’s owner Penny Tweedy. The solid bust, with hand-painted accents to the legs, hoofs, and nose, is set upon a marble stand which bears a small engraved plaque, measures 14 x 16.5 x 7 and weighs almost 44 pounds. Impressed into the bronze’s base is “Secretariat 1970–1989 © Jim Reno.” In fine condition. Accompanied by two property certificates from the 1999 sale of the statue on Sothebys.amazon.com. The original model was commissioned by the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation, and was purchased when Mrs. Tweedy was raising funds to build the Secretariat sculpture that was presented to the Horse Park. A fantastic piece of art that perfectly captures the grace and strength of one of racing’s most dominant horses. Oversized. RR Auction COA.
