Prince Imperial of the French Bonaparte dynasty (1856–1879), and the only child of Napoleon III. His early death in Africa, at the hands of Zulu warriors, sent shock waves throughout Europe. Handsome original 4.25 x 6.5 full-length cabinet photo by Alexander Bassano of London, signed in the lower border in black ink, “Napoleon 28 Julliet 1877.” In fine condition, with some mild horizontal creasing to center portion, not affecting overall appearance.
