RR Auctions Yes Jon Anderson Handwritten Lyrics The Race Is On

Handwritten lyrics to ‘The Race Is On,’ on an off-white 5 x 8 lightly-lined sheet of notebook paper, all written in the hand of Anderson. Lyrics read: “The Race Is On Yesterday a morning come A smile upon your face Ceasar's palace morning glory Silly human race On a sailing ship to nowhere Leading anyplace If the summer changed to winter Yours is no disgrace Battle ships confide in me And tell me where you are. Shining flying purple wolf hounds Show me where you are Lost in summer born in winter Travelled very far Lost in loosing circumstances Singing on a star. In a dream I saw two pages Catch a train to all the races on The race is on. The race is on.” Reverse bears more lyrics to an unknown song in an unknown hand. In fine condition, with mild show-through from lyrics on reverse. Accompanied by a glossy 10 x 8 group photo and a letter from Roy Flynn that reads "To Whom It May Concern. Atlantic records printed an insert of the lyrics in the Early LP's for 'Yes'. I got John Anderson to write out the lyrics, and my secretary typed them out (see carbon copy) for the record company.” Also accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks. Provenance: Bonham’s 2009. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
