Confederate general (1824–1861) mortally wounded at the First Battle of Bull Run, but best known for inspiring Thomas J. ‘Stonewall’ Jackson’s nickname. Exceedingly rare Civil War–era ink signature, “B. E. Bee, Lt. Col. 1st S. C.,” on an off-white 5.5 x 1.25 clipped slip. Central vertical tape-repaired tear and foxing to upper right, otherwise fine condition.
