Autograph letter, one page, lightly-lined, 8.5 x 5.25, Hotel Gassion letterhead, no date. Wright responds to a letter from Paul Tissandier, penning his answer at the bottom of Tissandier’s letter. Tissandier writes, “At what hour will you go this morning to the camp? Ten o’clock is it soon enough. Will you say to the waiter if ten o’clock is well.” Underneath, Wright answers, “I understood Wilbur to say last evening that he would begin at 9 o’clock. I myself am in no hurry.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds and some mild toning. Wright and Tissandier were in the same hotel in Pau, as the brothers were demonstrating their flier and Wilbur was setting a new record for flight duration. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.

Official Reach American League (Harridge) baseball signed in fountain pen by 14, including 11 members of the 1933 American League All Star team. Signers are: Connie Mack (ss), Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, Tony Lazzeri, Lefty Grove, Ted Lyons, Bill Dickey, Joe Cronin, Jimmy Dykes, and Rick Ferrell. In very good condition, with some signatures fairly light, but still mostly legible; a couple signatures are completely faded, however Ruth’s, Gehrig’s, and Mack’s signatures still quite bold. Initially intended to be a one-time event, the first All Star Game was played at Chicago’s Comiskey Park on July 6, 1933. Ruth hit two home runs propelling the American League to a 4-2 victory. A fabulous combination of signatures of Hall of Fame heavyweights, with the always desirable combination of Ruth and Gehrig. RR Auction Joey Ramone Handwritten lyrics to the Ramones Song Censorshit



Handwritten lyrics to the Ramones’ song ‘Censorshit’ on two 8 x 12 lightly-lined yellow sheets. Joey writes several verses of a more polished draft in black ink. Ramone writes (with grammar and spelling retained), in part: “Hey Mrs Senators wives/You gettin any/Just ask Ozzy Zappa Perry Farrell—an me/We’ll show you what its like to feel free/Tipper come on aren’t you gettin it on/Just ask Ozzy Zappa an me/We’ll show you what its like to feel free/We come so far but only to find people like you with ignorant minds.” Along the left edge of the second page, Ramone also adds a short note to Steve, which reads, “Steve, I’m really gonna try to run a respectable radio show here.” Next to the note, Ramone appears to jot down several titles for his radio show, incorporating his signature. “Joey Ramone’s Radio NY,” “Radio,” “Radio Coup,” and “Sensational Respectable Radio Show.” In fine condition, with central horizontal fold, a few creases, and a couple of light spots. The song ‘Censorshit’ was featured on the band’s 1992 album Mondo Bizarro, and was written by Joey to Tipper Gore and the PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center) about how rap and rock n’ roll albums were being censored. Ramone also had a radio show in early 1996 entitled Joey Ramone’s Radio Coup, which appeared on the Addicted to Noise audio channel. Provenance: Joey Ramone Estate. Handwritten lyrics to ‘The Race Is On,’ on an off-white 5 x 8 lightly-lined sheet of notebook paper, all written in the hand of Anderson. Lyrics read: “The Race Is On Yesterday a morning come A smile upon your face Ceasar's palace morning glory Silly human race On a sailing ship to nowhere Leading anyplace If the summer changed to winter Yours is no disgrace Battle ships confide in me And tell me where you are. In a dream I saw two pages Catch a train to all the races on The race is on. The race is on.” Reverse bears more lyrics to an unknown song in an unknown hand. Atlantic records printed an insert of the lyrics in the Early LP's for 'Yes'. RR Auctions The Clash Joe Strummer Fender Squier ‘telecaster’ Electric Guitar.



Strummer’s personally owned and used black-bodied Fender Squier ‘telecaster’ electric guitar. This guitar was used by Strummer during recording sessions for the Gross Pointe Blank soundtrack, as well as Strummer’s solo album, Earthquake Weather, recorded during 1988-89. Strummer has also affixed a Joe Strummer & the Latino Rockabilly War sticker to the body, with light remnants of two other affixed stickers, one to the body and one to the black pickguard. In fine condition, with expected wear from use. A fantastic instrument from a trying period in Strummer’s musical life. Having moved to Los Angeles to record his album, Strummer struggled and worked tirelessly with his band, as well as close friend Gerry Harrington, to expose himself to other sounds as motivation to complete the recording. The album was well-received by critics, bridging nicely from Strummer’s time with the Clash and into his next project, the Mescaleros. Acquired directly from Harrington, this guitar represents the re-emergence of Strummer after his time with the Clash. RR Auction COA.

RR Auction Sex Pistols Steve Jones Gibson Les Paul Electric Guitar


Jones’s personally owned and used blue glitter-bodied Gibson Les Paul electric guitar used on stage during the Sex Pistols reunion. This guitar was used by Jones in every show on the Sex Pistols’ 1996 Filthy Lucre tour. The body of the guitar is adorned with two affixed pin-up girl stickers. This guitar was designed by Jones with the electronics fixed to replicate the amazing sound heard on the first Sex Pistols record. In fine condition, with expected light wear and chipping to finish. The Filthy Lucre Tour in 1996 consisted of 78 shows in five continents spanning almost six months. This guitar was originally acquired directly from Jones in 1998. Stage-used gear from this iconic punk band is virtually non-existant and for certain the demand far outweighs the supply. RR Auction COA.

RR Auction Woody Guthrie Handwritten lyrics


Two pages of handwritten lyrics on two 8.5 x 12 lined tan pages, both signed at the bottom, “Woody Guthrie,” dated May 1956, and written at the Brooklyn State Hospital, but never recorded. Much of the text is undecipherable clearly showing the effects of Huntington's disease, for which he was hospitalized from 1956 to 1961. One page bears lyrics to a work entitled “Why,” and reads, in part: “Why does it hurt all us… so much of… here than it hurts all my (?) ever here to written it… (?)… and also to divorce it?" Second page bears 27 lines in Guthrie’s hand, and reads, in part: “Gotta make my gate, Brooklyn, Brooklyn my, Brooklyn state, my Brooklyn state.” Second page also bears a second Guthrie signature along right side. In very good condition, with tape repair to complete bisecting horizontal separation to second page, uniform toning, several other archival tape repairs to reverse of both pages, and some scattered edge chipping. In May 1952, Guthrie began to fall ill, and by September was diagnosed with Huntington's disease. Two years later, with the effects of the disease making him no longer able to function, Guthrie checked into Brooklyn State Hospital. On May 23, 1956, shortly after putting these thoughts on the pages offered here, Guthrie checked himself out of the facility and planned to tour, but within days was arrested for vagrancy in New Jersey. RR Auction Prince Stage-Worn Custom-Made Long Black Gloves


Pair of stage-worn custom-made long black gloves, worn by Prince during the Purple Rain tour in 1984–85. Gloves measure approximately 25” long and are adorned with black beads along one edge. Accompanied by a 1998 letter of provenance from the Revolution’s drummer Bobby Z which reads, in part: “This letter is to authenticate a pair of long black custom-made gloves…worn by Prince during the Purple Rain US tour…I was the drummer in Prince and the Revolution; these were given to me by the wardrobe department at the end of the tour.” In fine condition. Any stage-worn item from Price is quite rare, particularly as luxurious and dramatic as these gloves. RR Auction COA.

RR Auctions Madonna Handwritten Working Lyrics In This Life



Handwritten working lyrics to Madonna’s song ‘In This Life,’ recorded for her 1992 Erotica album, on a 7.5 x 10.5 lined sheet, signed with her initial in the left border, “M.” In blue ballpoint and black ink, Madonna writes out and edits about 27 lines of lyrics for the song, in part (with grammar and spelling retained): “In this life/ I loved you most of all/ What for/ cause now your gone/ and I have to ask myself/ What for…Some say thats lifes not fair/ I say that people just don’t care/ some things in life aren’t fair/ some people just don’t care/ they would rather turn the other way/ Why do we have to pretend/ What could I say to her/ some day I pray it all will end/ I hope it’s in my lifetime/ I hope its in this lifetime.” She has also added a few doodles, seemingly to test her pen, in the margins. A few light creases, and paper loss to the upper left corner (affecting none of the lyrics), otherwise fine condition. Madonna wrote ‘In This Life’ in memory of friends who she had lost to AIDS, becoming track 12 on Erotica, which explored many areas of sexuality. The release of the album and its accompanying book, Sex, caused worldwide backlash due to their explicit nature. However, the controversy has cemented Erotica’s legacy in popular culture—critics today see this album as Madonna at her most socially relevant. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.

RR Auction Bob Marley Ink Signature


Ink signature, “All the best, Bob Marley,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2 card affixed to a 6.5 x 4 off-white card. A few minor creases, a bit of light soiling, and a punch hole to top edge, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient of the signature, obtained backstage at a concert at the 1980 Garden Party at Crystal Palace Bowl in London on June 7, 1980, which reads, in part: “I was one of a hand full [sic] of people who decided to swim the lake to the front of the stage…At the end of the concert as I was so close, I took my chance and went to the side of the stage and found a way in to the VIP area backstage…I spotted Bob on his way out so asked a man next to me if he had anything I could get an autograph on as I was still rather wet from being in the water. He handed me a piece of card and went towards Marley. He seemed to be in a hurry to get away so did not stop for long.” Also accompanied by two photos from the event, one of the recipient identifying himself in a photo of the front of the stage, and another of Marley backstage, Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.

RR Auctions Elton John 1972 Personal Passport



John’s personal passport, number 926588, issued by the United Kingdom on February 18, 1972. Passport measures 4 x 6, and contains his personal information written in another hand on the second page, including his profession as “Musician,” signed at the bottom with his full name, “Elton Hercules John.” Affixed on the adjoining page, opposite the personal information page is John’s 1.5 x 1.75 passport snapshot. The first few pages bear embossed Foreign and Commonwealth Office seals. Several inside pages bear official visa stamps, including those from Jamaica, Australia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Japan, the US, and Canada, and also handwritten notations by John mentioning several music agencies. In overall fine condition, with expected wear from travel, including some soiling and a clipped upper right corner to the front cover, cancellation stamps to the front pages containing his personal information, and a few staple holes and small tears to some pages. This passport dates from John’s most successful and critically-acclaimed period—between 1972 and 1975, he saw seven consecutive albums reach number one in the US. The year this was issued also marked the release of one of John’s most famous songs, ‘Rocket Man.’ Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.

RR Auction Beatles Band Signed 1964 Number One EP The Beatles Hits


A copy of The Beatles second 45 rpm EP release of The Beatles Hits, signed on the back of the sleeve in blue ballpoint by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. The signatures were obtained in London circa late 1963/early 1964. The EP was released on September 6, 1963, and features four tracks ‘From Me to You,’ ‘Thank You Girl,’ ‘Please Please Me,’ and ‘Love Me Do.’ After its release the EP climbed to number one in the Record Retailer EP charts, Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient which reads, in part: “I had a friend named Gillian who was working at the BBC. She had some responsibility for the recording of music…It would be about 1964…The Beatles were at the Broadcasting House though it might have been at Abbey Road. Anyway Gillian obtained the autographs as the fab four emerged from the engagement.” Scattered creases, one passing through a portion of Lennon’s signature, scattered toning and soiling, and a tear, creases, and album impression to front of sleeve, otherwise very good condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks. Vintage ballpoint signature, “Love, Jimi Hendrix,” on a yellow 5 x 3.75 album page. Signature is housed in its original hardcover autograph album which bears several other signatures of friends, some dated 1968. In fine condition, with some skipping to first letter of sentiment. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and a photocopy of a letter of provenance from the original recipient that states the signature was obtained on the afternoon of May 2, 1970, in Madison, Wisconsin liquor store. Later that evening, Hendrix and the Experience played the Dane County Coliseum on their Cry of Love tour. They played a 12-sing set including ‘Foxy Lady,’ and ‘Purple Haze.’ A highly-coveted signature from this most celebrated of music legends. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.

RR Auction Waylon Jennings Personally Owned and Worn Cowboy Boots




Waylon Jennings’s personally owned and worn cowboy boots, approximately 13.5 inches tall and 11.5 inches long, handmade by Paul Bond from full lizard skin. Inside boots are stamped, “Paul Bond 92,” and their serial number, 92378, and Jennings’s name are handwritten vertically inside of each boot. Each boot bears a white ‘Flying W’ stitched into the front and back, and overall leather bears an elaborate pattern. A white leather ‘gun shack’ pocket is stitched into the right boot. In overall fine condition, with expected creases and general wear from use. Bond is a legendary maker of handcrafted boots whose customers have included John Wayne, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and, of course, Waylon Jennings. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Jennings’s son Terry. A truly one-of-a-kind collectible from the outlaw musician. RR Auction COA.
