A copy of The Beatles second 45 rpm EP release of The Beatles Hits, signed on the back of the sleeve in blue ballpoint by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. The signatures were obtained in London circa late 1963/early 1964. The EP was released on September 6, 1963, and features four tracks ‘From Me to You,’ ‘Thank You Girl,’ ‘Please Please Me,’ and ‘Love Me Do.’ After its release the EP climbed to number one in the Record Retailer EP charts, Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient which reads, in part: “I had a friend named Gillian who was working at the BBC. She had some responsibility for the recording of music…It would be about 1964…The Beatles were at the Broadcasting House though it might have been at Abbey Road. Anyway Gillian obtained the autographs as the fab four emerged from the engagement.” Scattered creases, one passing through a portion of Lennon’s signature, scattered toning and soiling, and a tear, creases, and album impression to front of sleeve, otherwise very good condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks. Over the past five years it has become extremely difficult to find full sets of Beatles autographs on any of the group’s releases making this an incredibly rare and desirable item.
